Setting out to learn a new language can be daunting. There's so much you have to learn. And sometimes that means it can be hard to know where to begin. You need to grow your vocabulary, but where do you start?
Where to Look
As we want to become more and more a gospel fluent people, who can speak the good news of Jesus naturally and articulately, we need to grow in our vocabulary too. But the Bible is a big book. It can be hard to know where to look sometimes in its rich treasure troves of God's word.
The Gospel is Words
It's hard–actually impossible– to "preach the gospel to yourself" or share it with others if we don't have the words of the gospel.
It's hard–actually impossible– to "preach the gospel to yourself" or share it with others if we don't have the words of the gospel. If we want to grow in faith in Jesus, if we're going to remind ourselves when times are tough or hectic or confusing why Jesus is all we need, we need to have some details to back that up. We need to know why and how.
If we're going to remind ourselves and one another of who we are now that we are in Christ– forgiven, loved, righteous, blameless, heirs and priests and ambassadors and friends and more– we need to learn and store the vocabulary and the promises God has for us.
Gospel-rich Verses
So, we thought we'd start a series of short posts highlighting some verses that might be especially helpful when setting out to become more "gospel fluent". We'd really encourage us all to read them, mediate on them, and memorize them. We hope the series is helpful in equipping us to grow and strengthen in faith as we saturate in the knowledge of Christ Jesus and his work for us.
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18
