Everything in your life – everything you have, is an unmerited gift. When you get the Gospel of grace for the first time, it is like a nearsighted person putting on a pair of glasses for the first time. You see everything differently and more clearly.
One of the evidences that we get the gospel is we become more generous. It is impossible to have a heart gripped by the gospel of grace and not have a generous heart. Generosity is always more than what we do with our money, but it is never less than what we do with our money.
When we think about generosity, we pull out our calculator to calculate the need and what is our share, but the Apostle Paul tells us to put away the calculator and look to the cross.
We struggle with generosity because we feel like if we give our money away it will deplete our happiness. But when we get the Gospel of Grace, we see that God is our limitless source of joy that leads our life out of scarcity and into joyful abundance. We have all the riches of Christ. Everything that is God’s is our’s. We share out of the overflow in our life.
Watch as Ray David unpacks 2 Corinthians 8:1-15 and shows us that we are generous to others because we have given all the riches of Christ.
