9 Truths about Wealth

Last Sunday, Ray David spoke about Generosity & Wealth in our ‘Radically Generous’ sermon series. Here are 9 things that he talked about that you’ll want to remember.

1. There is nothing in your life that perpetuates the illusion of self-security more than wealth.

2. Material wealth and moral wealth come together in our hearts to form something impervious to God’s grace. The problem is that if you are morally or materially rich, you will never come against the fact that you need God’s generosity.

3. Salvation is one thing that can’t be bought; you can’t earn it, God gives it to you.

4. We live our lives as though happiness is found in more, but Jesus says that if you want to find freedom give what you have away, because none of your stuff will give you abiding happiness.

5. If the thought of losing everything you have brings you to despair, then perhaps your wealth is your master; perhaps your wealth is your god.

6. What if God gave you your stuff not so that you could enjoy it, but so you could share it with others?

7. If you follow Jesus you will have wealth in this age – an eternal wealth that no one can take away.

8. If following Jesus has meant that you have had to walk away from worldly wealth, home, and family – then know that you will follow Him into a generous community where you’ll have hundreds of homes, hundreds of moms and dads, brothers and sisters.

9. Jesus gave up all of the treasure of heaven so that He could bring you home.
