Material wealth and moral wealth come together in our hearts to form something impervious to God’s grace. The problem is that if you are morally or materially rich you will never come against the fact that you need God’s generosity. Salvation is one thing that can’t be bought; you can’t earn it, God gives it to you.
We live our lives as though happiness is found in more, but Jesus says that if you want to find freedom give what you have away, because none of your stuff will give you abiding happiness.
