Surgery Finished

Blair is out of surgery and the doctors say that the procedure went well! The doctors called the new transplant liver a”Blue Ribbon” liver and that the donor was under 20 years of age. There was even more infection than previously thought underneath Blair’s incision. There is still a risk of connections being affected by the infection, but they rinsed him out heavily with saline and will pack the area. The doctor’s said it was excellent timing with the liver, as the infection by a week’s end would have been much worse. Blair did require a blood transfusion during the procedure , a total of 8 units of blood or 4litres. Blair was stable throughout the operation, and will be sedated for the evening and a breathing tube will remain in for the night.

Rochelle has asked for prayer that the connections heal as they should and that infection is kept under control. Let’s be vigilant to keep Blair and his family lifted up in prayer, as his body is still weak from the operations and infection. Pray also for the family of the deceased donor, as this is no doubt a day of much sorrow.

  3. This is a testament to the provision of God. Having dealt with transplants and lists it is truly a miracle that a liver came so quickly. We are praying for Blair and his family and we give thanks for those who so unselfishly make organ donations at a very difficult time in their own lives.

  4. Prayer is a powerful strength Blair…. you are so very much surrounded by love and prayers by so many…. May God’s healing touch be on you now and the days ahead… and to Rochelle and your family…. Blessings to all of you!

  5. I just want you all to know at St. George’s that we, at Christ The King, your sister church have also been praying for both Blair (and Joe) in the last while and we will now continue to do so for Blair’s complete recovery.

Thanks to several people who have been keeping us informed.

Yes, the family of the donor should also be prayed for at this time of loss.
