Two more days until Pentecost Sunday! We are believing the Lord for a wonderful time in His presence. Between now and then, please join me in praying:
1) for our confirmation candidates. We will be presenting over 20 candidates on whom Bishop Charlie will lay hands. Please pray that in this public profession of their faith, the Holy Spirit will descend upon them.
2) for Ray Smith, who is being ordained a deacon on Sunday, as well. Ray’s has faithfully ministered to prisoners, to our youth and led Freedom Sessions. He, with Joe, also lead our Eastern Pastorate. Ray is spending today in a guided retreat, reflecting on God’s call. Please pray for Ray and Kety as they prepare for Sunday and for the ministries God has prepared for them.
3) for our youth. Garth Hunt and the youth leadership team are leading 20 youth on a retreat this weekend. The theme is, “No Turning Back”. Several of these youth are being confirmed on Sunday. Please pray for them, too.
O GOD, who makest us glad with the yearly remembrance of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon thy disciples in Jerusalem: Grant that we who celebrate before thee the Feast of Pentecost may continue thine for ever, and daily increase in thy Holy Spirit, until we come to thine eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
