This week I came across a recording of a song I wrote a few years back called “Near Me“. It is a song longing after the closeness and presence of Jesus. One of the inspirational scripture verses for the song was James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you“, as well as the picture of mary sitting at the feet of Jesus in Luke 10:38-42. The song ends with the declaration of the unmerited grace of God, purchased for us through Jesus – the reason why we can boldly come into the presence of God, “I know His love remains the same, nothing I could do could change the way He loves me today“.
I pray that this song would inspire you to spend some time sitting at the feet of Jesus, admiring his glorious grace, and unchanging love.

Ancient of days
You thought of me
Before I even came to be
You’re older than I’ll ever be
You’re deeper than the roaring seas
So let your shadow rest on me
I love you near me
And in your eyes is strength and love
And in your arms You hold me far above
The emptiness where you are not
I love you near in my every thought
To sit at your feet is all I want
I know your love remains the same
No what matter what I do or say
I know your love remains the same
I know your love remains the same
Nothing I could do could change
The way he loves me today
But Lord I don’t want to remain the same
Lord, please help me to change
Mold and form me I pray
Great song, Bry! Thank you for sharing it! May it stir our hearts to seek even greater intimacy with Jesus, both in our times of solitude just with Him, and in our corporate worship services. Amen
You couldn’t have posted this song @ a more appropriate time Bryan. Thank you! My favourite line is, “so let your shadow rest on me”….Jesus did that for me today!
Have a great week…
